A little about us...

We’re a fundraising growth agency that helps nonprofits change the way they find new donors, retain them longer, and grow lifetime value.

Builders of Good get up each morning with passion and excitement to help our clients create moments of generosity, from first-time giver to legacy leaver.

Our approach is rooted in understanding why people give. Generosity grows when people feel motivated—when giving supports their identity, creates a sense of connection, and makes supporters feel competent and effective in their giving. We design fundraising systems around building donor motivation and leading first-time donors to become lifelong supporters. Our work blends brand and direct response.

We’re a growing, research-informed fundraising agency with a clear point of view and big ambitions, and you can help shape what comes next.

We may not be curing cancer, but our clients are.

Joining the BuildGood team means your daily work will power some of the most important causes in society.

Your skills and talents will contribute to building revenue engines for international development charities. Ocean and land conservation. Children’s hospitals. Homeless shelters and service providers. Building moments of generosity for donors who give $5 and those who give $500,000.

This is meaningful work with a clear line of sight to impact. Our work matters. A lot. We must hire the best, because we must deliver results for our clients who are—quite literally—saving the world.

Our mission: make generosity the social norm again.

We’re losing the battle to consumerism. The world is very good at making people want more.

We exist to help people give more. Becoming a Builder of Good means you’ll be serving a market of wants, not needs, at a time where the stakes have never been higher.

You will work alongside smart, ambitious teammates who care deeply about doing great work and becoming the best at what they do while pursuing a worthwhile and ambitious mission.

Our Core Values

These are our compass for how we work, lead, serve—and hire. They’re not just what we believe, but also how we behave and make decisions.

01

Lead with generosity

Generosity is our default setting. In every situation, we ask ourselves, “What’s the most generous thing I can do here?” That means we look for the generous interpretation, assume positive intent, lead with trust, and act with care—especially when things feel unclear or tense. Generosity is both how we see things and how we act.

02

Default to action

Action yields information. When something needs doing, we take ownership and move—without waiting for permission or perfect conditions. We try, test, learn, and adjust. Standing still is rarely the right answer. Progress > perfection.

03

Say what you think

We tell the whole truth and the hard truth, in the kindest way possible. Even (and especially) when it’s uncomfortable or inconvenient. Bad news doesn’t get better with time. We don’t say what you think to prove a point or to be seen as right. We do it because we believe honesty builds trust. We work hard to speak clearly, always while protecting the dignity of people involved.

04

Always be growing

Curiosity is the job. We are always learning, always improving, and always striving to become better at our craft. We seek feedback, test new ideas, and invest in our own growth—sharing what we learn along the way. Healthy things can’t help but grow. So a healthy team is a growing team.

05

Commit to the bit

We don’t half-commit to a bit. If we start a bit, we carry the bit. We become the bit. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. The tone we show up with is energy, humour, and heart—for ourselves, our team, and our clients.

Team Benefits

We’re working hard to become the best fundraising agency in North America. To do that, we hire the best. And to hire the best, we have to attract the best. Our benefits package is one of the ways we’re doing that.

Health & Wellness

We offer a Flexible Health Spending Account (HSA) you can use to cover medical expenses, or the gym membership.

Retirement Plan

We will match your savings one-for-one starting at 2% of your salary, up to 9% in time, with our group retirement saving plans (GRSP).

Professional & Personal Growth

A generous professional development budget, industry events, quarterly reviews, mentorship—we want to put you in the best possible position to grow.

Flex Time

Start your day between 7:30am and 9:30am CST. Get your work done. End your day between 3:30pm and 6:30pm.

Lots of Paid Time Off

Three weeks to start, five weeks in time, and up to a month-long sabbatical. Major and minor holidays, Summer Fridays, and a winter break.

Profit Share

We work hard as a team to hit our goals and targets, and we all share a percentage of profits as a reward for a job well done.

Summer Fridays

We’re big believers in slowing down in the summer to chase ice cream trucks and beach balls. That’s why we take Fridays off in the Summer while still getting our work done.

Work from Wherever

Provided you have fast and reliable internet, good audio and video, and your schedule and productivity doesn’t suffer, you’re welcome to work from wherever you’re most productive. From your couch at home to a cafe in Paris.

BuildGood Gives

We lead with generosity. That’s why we give away 10% of all profits to worthy nonprofits—and you can share in the joy of giving.

Winter Break

The week between Christmas and New Year’s is always a hectic one for nonprofit fundraisers, but we work ahead and create systems that allow us to spend time with loved ones.

BuildGood Summit

We’re building North America’s premiere gathering of nonprofit leaders, marketers and fundraisers who are innovating to grow generosity. You get to contribute, attend and be at the centre of it all.

Entrepreneurial Culture

We value your need for autonomy, competence and connection. We place a premium on rigor and accountablity…and humour.

Running on EOS

We run on EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) with a clear vision, clear targets, clear quarterly rocks, and clear accountability for every seat in the business.

Team Retreat

While we all meet in person at the BuildGood Summit, every other year we get together for an additional team retreat for a time of good hangs, good food and good teamwork.

Paid Sabbatical Leave

Work for us for seven years and get a one time four straight weeks of (additional) PTO to do whatever you want.
